Biography and History

The Norris Twins

When people see the Norris Twins entertain for the first time, their reactions are often the same – Melinda “Lindy” and Rebecca “Becky” Norris are such polished performers they must have been born onstage! And that's not far from the truth.

Their first "venue" was church. As youngsters, the twins had a special influence with the minister who was also their father and they used it often to create occasions for singing Sunday morning duets. Finally, when they were old enough, the family took their show on the road, performing as The Images in churches across America.

Soon after, Melinda and Rebecca became the youngest entertainers in Branson, Missouri, when they joined the cast of the Baldknobbers Jamboree show, the pioneer show in Branson. Every evening for seven years they sang and danced onstage, becoming two of Branson's most sought-after personalities.

Those seven years of entertaining live audiences gave them the kind of stage experience most performers don't gain for many years. In 1991, that experience paid off … one evening television producers happened into the Baldknobbers show, and were immediately taken with their warm presence and unflappable confidence. Talks led to auditions, and before long the twins were on the road to Nashville to become cast members of Hee Haw.

Being part of Hee Haw provided them with a whirlwind of entertainment experiences. A few of the stars with which they had the opportunity to perform with was Garth Brooks, Alabama, Ronnie Milsap, and of course Roy Clark and the whole Hee Haw gang.

For several years, The Norris Twins traveled with their band to casinos, fairs, clubs and theaters across the United States and abroad, as well as opening for major recording artists such as Keith Urban, Martina McBride, Barbara Mandrell, Lee Greenwood, Marie Osmond, Restless Heart, and the list goes on and on... Joe Don Rooney of Rascal Flatts was a talented part of their band.

Entertaining for USO shows in South Korea was an especially memorable experience for them. Successes were coming with increasing intensity when the girls decided to take a break to start their families. Right now, command performances for weddings and other events remind them of their enduring love for the arts.

During their performance break, MelindaNorrisPhotography.com has done extensive promotional photography for many artists including Taylor Swift, Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood. Melinda completes her love of the art by writing, singing background vocals for major artists, and recording songs of her own. Not long ago, she was invited to be on ABC’s The Bachelor Show. She decided to accept the invitation and enjoyed her experience appearing in season six.

Besides recording in the studio like her sister, Rebecca has worked behind the scenes on the road with Reba McEntire, Martina McBride, Sara Evans, Jamie O’Neil and Carolyn Dawn Johnson. She has been active in TheMusicGroupInt.com, a publishing/artist management company with her husband. A few of their clients are Little Texas lead singer Tim Rushlow; John Stone, writer of Me and My Gang for Rascal Flatts; Nick Hoffman, Kenny Chesney’s fiddle player/background vocalist soon to be released as a solo artist; and Walker Hayes, a new artist coming out this spring on Capitol Records.

It may not be long before The Norris Twins are in the thick of it once more since the devoted fans they acquired through the years are asking for their dazzling performances again. Right now their most important fans are three awesome little boys that keep both girls very busy.
